When you spend 15 years playing pro hockey in the NHL, IHL and Elite European leagues…
…you learn a lot about physical training. You learn what works, and you also learn what doesn’t work!
One big problem is that the vast majority of hockey training programs put way too much emphasis on long endurance exercises and not nearly enough on quickness, speed and power. That doesn’t make much sense if you think about it…
Hockey isn’t a game where a player spends 60 minutes straight on the ice, putting out a medium level of effort the whole time. Hockey is a game where you hit the ice and give 110% of your effort for a quick shift, then hit the bench to rest up for the next one.
I was a professional hockey player in the NHL, IHL and European Elite Leagues for 12 years. While I was playing I was doing my kinesioloy degree through the University of Waterloo.
During my last 2 years of professional hockey in Europe, I spent the off-season training NHL and OHL players from around the Oshawa area (where I previously had my own facility). I also owned Train Like a Pro Strength and Conditioning with Adam Foote before I moved back to my hometown of Kitchener.
I have been the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of both the Kitchener Rangers and Oshawa Generals (for a total of seven years) and also consulted to the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League. I have trained over 30 NHL players, hundreds of OHL and minor hockey players as well as hundreds of personal training clients interested in improving their health and getting in the best shape possible.
I am in my tenth year as a personal trainer and feel that my professional athletic experience along with my strong academic background(certifications as both a Personal Trainer and Master Specialist in Sports Conditioning) and practical experience will allow me to provide you with the highest level of training available.

I’ve played Major Junior A in the OHL, pro in the International Hockey League as well as leagues in Europe, and I’ve played at the peak of hockey, in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues!
As well as having 15 years of professional hockey experience, I’m also a fully qualified and certified personal trainer! As a trainer I’ve worked with Stanley Cup champions and Olympians right down to rec players and young kids.
No matter where I played or who I trained, at every level and every age, one single thing has always stayed the same; the players who train the hardest and the smartest are the players who make it the farthest.
